Job Summary

This position is located within the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service, Whiteriver Service Unit, Social Services Department. The incumbent serves as the Director of Social Services and is responsible for the supervision, administration, and overall management of the Social Services Department. Provides leadership for social work personnel, program operations, and staff utilization. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Basic Requirements: Individual Occupational Requirements - Social Work Series 0185 Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- Minimum Qualifications: GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks, examples include: Professional and programmatic oversight for development, implementation, and evaluation of social services activities. Directing and managing programs, with responsibility for program effectiveness, evaluation, improvement, and policy. Providing services for complex cases, utilizing advanced assessment, treatment methods, and offering clinical consultation. Independent decision-making authority, experience leading or guiding staff, including participating in hiring actions, supporting performance management, and addressing employee issues. And Selective Placement Factor: Your resume must demonstrate a current, unrestricted license U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). Supervisory Abilities: This is a supervisory position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position.
