Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes experience 1) evaluating medical emergencies to provide advanced life support care, 2) conducting examinations to obtain patient vital signs, 3) performing advanced airway care, 4) administering emergency medicine techniques such as CPR/First Aid and Basic Life Support, and 5) operating an emergency vehicle. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Licensure/Certification: 1. Must have at a minimum, state certification at his/her grade level and obtain certification by the National Registry of EMT's (NREMT's) within 12 months after appointment. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your licensure/certification with application).2. Must possess and maintain a Basic Cardiac Life (BLS) Support Certification, AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), and AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Must be able to obtain and maintain a AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
