Basic Requirement for a Lead Medical Support Assistant (Office Automation): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting clinical staff and beneficiaries with administrative/clerical duties; performing customer service functions, such as answering telephones, relaying messages, and scheduling medical appointments; utilizing a personal computer and software programs to create documents and reports; Creating clinic schedule templates; and maintaining files in either electronic or paper format. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
