Truck driving requires moderate physical effort in the frequent handling of heavier objects weighing up to 70 pounds, while loading cargo with the assistance of other workers or weight handling equipment. Considerable physical effort may be required to change tires, and to make limited emergency repairs. There is some physical effort used when loading or unloading the vehicle, walking, reaching, bending and turning when performing driver's maintenance to vehicle. Working Conditions: Incumbent operates either from an office or from the vehicle in an enclosed cab, but drives in all types of traffic and weather conditions and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents. Drives on steep winding grades. Drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Operator is subject to cuts, bruises, and broken bones or worse as a result of accidents while driving.
