Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator/Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience in the following: Identifying and/or examining hazardous or toxic medical materials; receiving, storing, issuing, shipping and/or inspecting equipment; receiving and/or accounting for all shipments; conducting observations and inspections of materials and substances in accordance with regulations; and unloading a variety of items using material handling equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, forklift and trucks - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Often stands on hard surfaces for extended periods of time; bends, stoops, and works in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to eight kilograms (70 pounds). Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment with assistance from other workers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes.
