Job Summary

These positions are located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Operations Division, Office of Training in the following units: Academic Operations Unit (OTDA) Tactical Training Unit (OTDT) Firearms Training Unit (OTDF) Practical Training Unit (OTDP) Mobile Unit A (OTIA) Specialized Training Unit (OTSS) The primary purpose for these positions is to serve as Instructor's and Course Developer's in the field of foreign law enforcement training and is not eligible for AUO.

Basic Qualification Requirements: Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled; OR Experience: General Experience (for GS-5 positions): Experience that provided evidence of the ability to instruct students in the use of equipment, principles, or practices of the subject or occupation. This experience may have been gained as a teacher or instructor; in on-the-job supervision or instruction of subordinates or fellow workers; or in work involving application of the principles, practices, and techniques of the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled. AND Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate one or more of the following: 1) Reviewing or updating existing training materials, lesson plans, and practical exercises to ensure support of current operational requirements; 2) Delivering instructions in various subject areas, not limited to firearms, close quarter combat, evasive driving, land navigation, and surveillance detection; OR 3) Conducting lectures, demonstrations, or hands on practical exercises and administering examinations.
