Job Summary

This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Inspection Division, Office of Security Programs (IS), Insider Threat Section (IST), Defensive Counterintelligence Unit (ISTB). This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as a Security Specialist, providing support by identifying new and existing counterintelligence risks, and helping prepare the workforce on how to respond if they encounter those risks.

Applicants applying for the GS-12 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Reviewing and analyzing inputs to confirm, refute, or refer items of security concern from the Insider Threat Hub for further analysis. 2) Developing recommendations and processes to improve counterintelligence (CI) operational performance ensuring adherence to agency policies and procedures. 3) Organizing and conducting seminars and security-related training courses for government and/or contractor personnel. Applicants applying for the GS-13 must meet one of the following requirements: A. Have at least one full year of qualifying specialized experience that is at least equivalent in difficulty and complexity to work performed at the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Working with management to analyze, interpret, and resolve conflicting multi-disciplined security data feeds to confirm or refute potential behaviors of security concern. 2) Reviewing and interpreting intelligence and security information applicable to the Drug Enforcement Administration's domestic and international mission. 3) Advising security officers and managers on new developments and advances in security, such as new techniques and systems to mitigate counterintelligence threats.
