Job Summary

This position is located in the Office of Public Affairs and Training's (OPAT), Communications Division and ensures a cohesive, consistent food safety message within the agency, across the Department and to all stakeholders. The Communication Division develops and conducts public information campaigns to inform and educate a variety of offices, including Congress, the media, industry, consumers and employees.

Job Description

Applicants must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement as defined below. Time in Grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet the time-in-grade requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the normal line of progression for the position being filled. For the GS-15 grade level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-14 grade level) demonstrating the following: Program management. Creating internal and external communication plans. Coordinating legislative activities such as Congressional communications or clearance processes. Maintaining contact and collaborative working relationships with external and internal stakeholders. Designing, implementing, and integrating activities of subordinate offices. Providing briefings, spokesperson duties, or press engagement. Developing web and social communications along with internal messaging. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
