Job Summary
This position is located in the, Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) Community Recreation Division, of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department, located within Navy Region Japan, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. Manages and administers a comprehensive and diverse year round recreation program and various recreation facilities that can include, but are not limited to Parks, Picnic Areas, Outdoor Rental/Resale, Adventure Activities, Paintball, Campgrounds, and Marina.
Job Description
Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. Knowlege Required A minimum of three years' experience that evidences a working knowledge of the assigned program. A degree from an accredited college in recreation or a related field may be substituted for two years of experience. Knowledge of the basic principles and techniques of recreation such as would be gained through a full four-year undergraduate course or through three years of experience in an appropriate field of recreation, which serves as a foundation for training in the practical application of such knowledge to ongoing recreation programs. Knowledge of the goals, philosophy, principles, techniques and methods of procedure used in organizing, planning, administering and conducting outdoor recreation activities. Knowledge of the entire scope of activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Ability to coordinate a small volunteer program with command and community leaders. Ability to solve problems that arise from managing diverse groups of people. Ability to market the Outdoor Recreation Program and motive eligible patrons. Knowledge of constraints placed on the MWR program and ability to utilize resources effectively Knowledge of the Equal Employment Opportunity Program and the ability to support it in all day-to-day activities. Knowledge in a variety of technical areas such as facility and grounds maintenance, safety regulations, specialized equipment, etc. Possess managerial and administrative skills necessary to accomplish the mission of the program. Functions include supervising others, budgeting, programming and fiscal processes, monitoring of equipment needs, facility expansion or replacement requirements, etc. Must present a neat, well-groomed appearance at all times and must work harmoniously with co-workers and members of the MWR Department. When required, must be able to work at night, weekend and holiday.
