Job Summary
This position is located in the Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) Community Recreation Division, of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, located within Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), Navy Region Japan, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka. Manages and administers a comprehensive and diverse year round recreation program and various recreation facilities that can include, but are not limited to Parks, Picnic Areas, Outdoor Rental/Resale, Adv Activities, RV Parks and marina.
Job Description
- Knowledge gained through relevant education and training (i.e., Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Marketing, Business or closely related field) and/or equivalent recreation related work experience. - Knowledge of boating terminology, watercraft operation and maintenance, water and boating safety, handling of boats (launching, mooring, and storage), boating equipment and facilities, and recreational boating activities. - Knowledge of a very wide range of the principles, concepts and techniques of planning and conducting large scale outdoor recreation program. - Knowledge of the ranges of activities and services and of participant interests and needs typical of an outdoor activities program that enable the employee to develop skills and ability to maintain a comprehensive and exceptionally diversified outdoor recreation program. - The ability to develop and implement innovative outdoor recreation programs effective in attracting and motivating at-risk groups such as youth, teen and young adults (ages 18- 25).- Knowledge and ability to manage multiple activities and recreational facilities at the same time. - Knowledge of NAF and APF budgeting and necessary skills to manage and execute funding within prescribed budgets. -Knowledge and ability to recruit, train, manage and lead a diverse workforce of paid and volunteer personnel to include MWR staff, contractors, recreation instructors, leaders and guides. - Ability to provide excellent customer service and resolve complex customer-service related problems. - The ability to work as a leadership team member of a complex and diverse recreation program. - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
