Job Summary

In this position you will work as a member of the Mount Weather Emergency Operations Center (MWEOC), Emergency Services Division, Police Branch. MWEOC is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, approximately 60 miles west of Washington, DC. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience maintaining law & order, protecting life, property, & civil rights of individuals, & national security information from acts of sabotage, espionage, terrorism, trespass, theft, and/or fire.

Job Description

Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The qualification requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of this announcement. To qualify for this position at the GS-08 level, you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the federal government, a state or local government, or private sector, and must demonstrate the following: Patrolling by foot and vehicle to prevent and detect theft, damage, or unauthorized entry AND, Investigating complaints, taking witness statements and preparing incident reports AND, Providing assistance to emergency incidents and providing first aid OR, Using various systems (alarm systems, CCTV, telephone, radio, etc.) for reporting emergency information. AND In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following certification requirement to be considered qualified for the position: Must have completed a Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers' Uniform Police Training program, Mixed Basic Training program, or Criminal Investigator Training program.
