Job Description

To qualify for a Commodity Logistics Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: - The ability to conduct studies and analyses of assigned materials an advisor on the packaging, storage, handling, and selection for inclusion in sales solicitations for commodities. - Conduct estimates related to the cost of physical space, security requirements, maintenance and rehabilitation of storage facilities and repackaging projects. - Monitors, reviews and evaluates material inspection, testing and analysis reports covering the acceptance or rejection of materials.- Participate in the preparation of a variety of briefing materials for presentations to DLA, DoD, Congressional staffs, other Federal agencies, and representatives of private industry firms, both foreign and domestic. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary, however, periodic trips to the depots will require walking, bending, standing and climbing to inspect buildings or construction work. Work Environment: The work environment involves everyday risks or discomfort which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as conference rooms or offices, commercials vehicles, e.g. use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoiding of trips or falls, observance of fire regulations, traffic signals, safe driving practices and similar practices. Occasional travel to depots is required. The incumbent may be exposed to toxic or carcinogenic commodities stored at depots and is required to comply with OSHA and DLA safety practices, using safety equipment such as a respirator and personal protective clothing when necessary. The use of a respirator imposes particular physical demands on the wearer and requires a medical determination to determine any such problems as well as requiring an annual medical review.
