Job Description

To qualify for a Supply Technician, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year ofspecialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducting physical inventories and location surveys Investigating stock/record/material discrepancies impacting inventory balances or Supply Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) Preparing reports concerning results of investigations performed B. Education: As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Demands: Work is performed on hard surfaces and in areas that regularly require walking, standing, stooping, reaching, bending, lifting and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasional periods of desk work are required. The incumbent is required to perform location surveys, physical inventory counts, and shelf-life inspections on all types of material, some which is heavy and bulky, stored on pallets, and some which is stored in high-level locations. Required to wear safety shoes and other appropriate safety equipment when operating MHE and performing day-to-day tasks. Work may require operating MHE and handling, pushing and lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds. If moving or lifting 40 pounds or more obtain assistance from co-workers and/or utilize lifting devices. Depending on the availability of equipment and depot location, may occasionally operate a bicycle, sedan, or pick-up truck to move between work sites. Work Environment: Work is performed within a warehousing environment. It involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions such as working around moving parts, machines, and adverse weather conditions. The incumbent is occasionally required to perform location surveys, physical inventory counts, and shelf-life inspections in various storage areas in which safety precautions must be adhered to by the employee. The storage area work environment may involve moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving/noisy warehouse equipment, carts, or machines, and exposed to areas with fluctuating temperatures. The incumbent may be exposed to dusty, dirty or greasy conditions. The incumbent may be exposed to the possibility of electrical shock (AC or DC), cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions and broken bones from falls or falling items. The employee uses protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves, as required, to comply with safety requirements.
