Job Summary

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Field Operations Center West - FOCW in Citrus Heights, CA. Provides leadership support to the Public Affairs Manager to ensure effective planning, operation, and evaluation of an active well-balanced public affairs program for internal and external customers (media, the public, business, and civic organizations, etc.) and Federal, state, and local government offices concerning the SBA Disaster Assistance Program.

Job Description

Specialized Experience: GS-13: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector: Planning and managing public affairs projects and events, including coordinating timelines, logistics, and stakeholder participation to support organizational communication objectives; AND Collaborating on a team, establishing work assignments and/or managing workload balance; AND Disseminating or providing information about an organization or program to internal and external customers such as the public, federal/state agencies and associated entities, local governments, and/or the media; AND Developing or implementing communication plans, outreach strategies, or public information campaigns to support an organization's mission or program objectives; AND Managing multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic or high-tempo environment while ensuring accurate and timely delivery of products and information. These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume. Education: There is no education substitution for this grade level. It is available for your review on OPM's Qualifications web site: Public Affairs Series 1035 Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Generally, time in Non-Pay status as a federal employee is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed above. All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 09/03/2026.
