This position serves as the Engineering Technician at Raven Rock Mountain Complex (RRMC). RRMC is on one of the Nation's premier facilities, providing support to various Department of Defense (DoD) tenants in an all-hazards environment.
Job Description
MISSION ESSENTIAL POSITION: Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations ( e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirement and specialized experience requirements described below. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of engineering methods, techniques, and procedures. Qualifying experience may include technical work in areas such as: drafting, surveying, construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, architecture, chemical, electrical, or mechanical systems, or other comparable engineering-related fields. Experience in a trade or craft may also be qualifying when it provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, methods, and techniques. Examples include work involving developmental, test, design, planning, or estimating responsibilities. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector). You may qualify at the GS-11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates experience: Preparing, revising, and maintaining technical drawings, layouts, and related documentation for facilities, utilities, infrastructure, or construction-related projects using computer-aided drafting tools; and Preparing or editing contract documents (e.g., drawing concepts and layouts). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. A "certification" letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. This "certification" must include your rank, dates of active duty service, type of discharge and character of service (i.e. honorable), and date any terminal leave will begin. Retained Grade PPP Eligible: Retained Grade PPP applicants, must be selected and placed at the full performance level if determined well qualified. You must include a completed copy of the Retained Grade PPP Self-Certification Checklist (DD-3145-1) to verify your eligibility for Retained Grade preference.
