Job Summary
As a GS-13 Public Affairs Specialist you will be part of the Communications Division, Office of Communications and Legislative Affairs, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will be responsible for advising and assisting the Director of Communications in the development, administration, coordination and execution of the plans, policies and procedures for carrying out EEOC's communications program activities, to include various writing, editing, and media relations.
Job Description
For the GS-13: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as researching, analyzing and applying established best practices in media relations; working with the media and general public to communicate about an organization's mission and work; developing and executing communication strategies focused at reaching a specific audience; developing communications plans, messaging strategies, best practice guides or tools for training and awareness for employees and managers. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
