Job Description

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Electric Power Controller Leader without more than normal supervision, performing duties such as: 1) Overseeing employees in the operation, maintenance and repair of electrical power generating; 2) Analyzing a variety of interrelated meter indications to detect abnormal operating conditions and make necessary corrections by adjusting controls to balance loads, change transformers taps to regulate voltage and isolate power failures by switching procedures; 3) Utilizing test equipment and tools of the trade to make repairs and interpreting circuit diagrams and equipment layout drawings in order to determine which electrical items can be operated; and 4) Maintaining and advising high voltage electric utility distribution system, and emergency standby generators; performing switching operations on high voltage electrical distribution systems to restore power, responding to emergency power failures and assuring personnel are in compliance with all safety environmental regulations.
