The OIG's Audit Division is seeking highly motivated students for intern position in our Washington, D.C., headquarters offices to assist with research, office administration, performance metric tracking, organizational communications, and other responsibilities.

Job Description

As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In determining if your employment advances the public interest, we may consider: - Your performance and conduct - The needs and interests of the agency; - Whether your continued employment would advance organizational goals of the agency or the Government; and - Whether your continued employment would advance the efficiency of the federal service. Upon completion of your probationary period OR trial period your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Basic Qualifications Must be at least 16 years of age. Must be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a technical or vocational school, 2-year or 4-year college or university, graduate or professional school, at a qualifying educational institution on a half-time or full-time basis. Must be in good academic standing with a cumulative GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 or better (must provide a transcript and proof of enrollment/acceptance letter); these standards will be in effect for the duration of the internship. Must maintain enrollment/continue education throughout the duration of employment under the Pathways Program. Minimum Qualifications: In addition to meeting the Basic Qualifications stated above, you must also meet the minimum qualifications for the appropriate grade level, or applicable general or specialized experience, or a combination of both. To qualify for the GS-4 level, you must have completed 2 full academic years of post-high school education or an Associate Degree (one year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in a college or university; or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school). To meet the minimum qualifications with experience at the GS-4 grade level, you must have 1-year of general experience. General experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to perform the duties of General Office and Administrative Support Intern. Examples of general experience include: filing materials in alphabetical or chronological order; operating a copier machine; collating and stapling materials; producing a variety of written documents utilizing various word processing software functions; securing information from files and related sources. To meet the minimum qualifications with experience at the GS-5 grade level, you must have 1-year of specialized experience. To qualify for the GS-5 level, you must have completed 4 academic years of post-high school education leading to a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent degree. Specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible clerical office support work that indicates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Examples of specialized experience include: reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness; typing and formatting correspondence and forms; obtaining information from files or general reference sources; taking messages and scheduling appointments; performing routine administrative functions.
