Job Description

In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing structural engineering designs and drawings with regard to user functions, space requirements, design codes, safety considerations, limitations and costs; 2) Performing structural engineering investigations (e.g., stress analysis, evaluation of distribution of loads); 3) Recommending engineering solutions to problems; 4) Reviewing structural design calculations, methods of analysis and fabrication/assembly drawings for technical adequacy and compliance with functional requirements; and 5) Reviewing and approving structural design calculations, methods of analysis, fabrication/assembly drawings of complex or uncommon types, research materials requirements and properties which are not available from reference books or industry publications and performs preliminary estimates of key loads and dimensions for applicable designs.
