Job Summary
As an Electronics Technician you will provide support in the acquisition, use, care, handling, and calibration of instrumentation in the Calibration Laboratory of the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL). Test results directly derived from properly maintained and calibrated equipment have direct impact on long-term research projects, production of accurate, reliable and timely diagnostic test results, and credibility of our national and international health programs.
Job Description
Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-07 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Applying appropriate procedures involved in testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment, or similar functions. Assisting in development of policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance, installation, training or similar functions for a variety of systems or equipment. OR Successful completion of eighteen (18) semester hours of related graduate education obtained from an accredited college or university. Qualifying graduate courses include: electrical engineering, electronics engineering, or electronics technology. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for this grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required if: You are qualifying for the position based on education. You are qualifying for this position based on a combination of experience and education. This education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college, or university COMBINATION OF EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE AT THE GS-07 GRADE LEVEL: Applicants may have combinations of successfully completed education and specialized experience to meet total qualification requirements. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify for that grade level.
