Job Description

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out for this position is performing the following tasks: Installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a wide variety of mechanical and electronic locking systems, including high-security locks, combination locks, cipher locks, and electromechanical devices. Opening, repairing, and rekeying locks and safes; changing combinations; fabricating or duplicating keys using code cutting, impressioning, or duplication methods; and maintaining key control systems and records. Diagnosing malfunctions and determining appropriate repair methods using technical manuals, manufacturer specifications, and security guidelines, and selecting appropriate tools and techniques to complete work. Installing and servicing security containers, vaults, and locking systems, including performing drilling, neutralization, and repair techniques for lockouts and safe failures. Designing, installing, and maintaining master key systems and access control systems, and conducting security surveys to identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions. Fabricating, modifying, or repairing locking components using hand and power tools and shop equipment (e.g., drills, grinders, lathes, soldering equipment) and selecting appropriate materials based on strength, durability, and security requirements. Working independently to plan and complete assignments, exercising sound judgment in adapting procedures, troubleshooting complex issues, and making on-the-spot decisions in support of mission requirements.
