Job Description

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement. You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp. This position has a positive education and/or certification requirement. You must submit proof of education or of certification to be considered for this position. Basic Requirement: Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school, be an active member of the bar of a state, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico in good standing (any jurisdiction). Applicants must possess excellent academic and professional credentials, and outstanding professional references. Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-14 or equivalent level. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as: Provide authoritative legal services for Federal acquisition, administrative, and fiscal law and litigation matters, particularly as they relate to major systems acquisitions; OR Deliver strategic legal guidance to senior military and civilian leaders, and actively coordinate on complex legal matters with external Federal agencies (e.g., DOJ, GAO, GSA, OSC) and internal Department of War (DoW) components; OR Litigate or manage high-stakes contract negotiations and disputes before the Government Accountability Office (GAO), the Armed Services or Civilian Board of Contract Appeals, and Federal courts; OR Supervise attorneys and legal support staff, managing complex legal portfolios and administrative priorities, and driving strategic advancements within a DoW or equivalent legal office. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
