Job Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as representative of the Government in direct field charge of contract construction for projects assigned to the Everglades Agricultural Area Office, including multi-million-dollar flood control projects.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. For GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reading and understanding plans and specifications; inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with contractual requirements; reviewing contractor-submitted documents for accuracy and adequacy; inspecting construction to assess quality control of Contractors; providing input to project engineers toward solutions or courses of action required based upon thorough knowledge of contract specifications, common trade practices, and observations made at project sites; furnishing field information for construction progress and feeder information for other reports; experience with earthwork and concrete work such as: planning, scheduling and timing of long-range and day-to-day construction and phases thereof, such as preparation of site and foundations; erection of concrete forms; mixing, placing and curing of reinforced concrete; and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
