Job Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: As an Engineering Tech (Drafting), GS-0802-7/8/9, you will develop and maintain CADD drawings/as-builts, manage document storage systems, conduct GPS/Total Station surveys, plot data to generate 3D terrain models, and monitor geotechnical instrumentation for dams and civil works.

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software (such as Bentley MicroStation or AutoCAD) to produce, modify, or maintain technical drawings; AND assisting with field investigations, taking physical measurements, or collecting basic field survey/instrumentation data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). GS-08: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing CADD software (such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar applications) to develop, modify, or update civil, mechanical, electrical, or architectural drawings from rough sketches, redlines, or field notes; AND performing routine field data collection, conducting basic surveying, or gathering structural/environmental monitoring measurements; AND maintaining and updating paper and electronic file databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing, revising, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings, maps, or as-builts using CADD software (such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, or similar applications) based on field investigations, redlines, or project specifications; AND conducting topographic, boundary, or construction surveys using GPS, Total Station, or conventional surveying equipment and processing raw data into drawings OR operating, testing, or recording data from field instrumentation used to evaluate the condition, settlement, or stability of civil structures, earthworks, foundations, or infrastructure; AND maintaining and updating paper and electronic file databases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
