This solicitation is utilizing the Direct Hire Authority (DHA) for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: You will lead a crew or personally carry out maintenance and repair tasks in a variety of trades and crafts.

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead workers performing the full range of carpentry, painting, masonry, asphalt work, locksmithing, motor vehicle operating, small craft operating, and engineering equipment operating. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Requirements / Working Conditions Uses moderate physical effort to stack, load, unload, move and carry tools, equipment and materials up to 50 lbs unassisted. Occasionally lifts heavier objects with assistance (e.g., using a hand truck). Required to reach, walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Occasionally works in cramped quarters, or from ladders, scaffolds or platforms. Incumbent is required to maintain confined space proficiency and perform confined space entry certification. Work is performed inside and outside in all types of weather (e.g., heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) and usually in a dirty, dusty and/or greasy environment. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of broken bones, electrical shocks, burns, cuts, bruises, maimed fingers and scrapes. May be required to wear protective clothing and safety equipment. When operating engineering equipment, is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. Incumbent must be physically able to readily access and exit manholes with diameters as small as 20".
