Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator without more than normal supervision. Duties include: Operating heavy engineering and construction equipment such as motor patrol grader to construct roadways; tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth to rough specifications on flat or rolling terrain; skill and knowledge to perform maintenance on such equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability And Dependability Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Physical Efforts: Heavy physical effort is used constantly in reaching, bending, turning and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to handle controls. Considerable strain, jerking, and jolting is caused by the constant vibration of equipment. Frequently works in awkward or strained positions. Working Conditions: Work is performed outside in all types of weather, in open cabs, on all types of terrain. Incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from motor and exhaust. Drives equipment in all types of weather and is exposed to injury due to possible overturning of equipment. Subject to the possibility of serious accidents and to cuts, bruises, and broken bones. Exposed to noise levels above 85dBA and requires use of hearing protective devices.
