You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Machinist~ without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience and/or show the ability to perform common machinist tasks such as: operating conventional and CNC (computer numerically controlled) machines; and/or measuring, visualizing, and discussing equipment functions or general needs. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability To Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Competence ??????? PHYSICAL EFFORT: Majority of work requires light to moderate physical effort in the handling of equipment and tools. While working with machine tools, may stand on concrete floors for prolonged periods of time and is required to stand, stoop, bend, and reach. On occasion, may be required to lift and carry items or materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated shop with concrete floors. Exposed to dust from grinding, oil from machines, dirt, heat, noises, and fumes. Subject to the hazards of burns from hot metal chips, dust in the lungs, cuts, bruises, injuries to hands from the use of machine and hand tools, skin irritation from contact with coolants, lubricants, abrasive compounds, and to strains from infrequent moving, lifting, and handling of heavy items. Wears safety glasses, safety shoes, and other safety apparel and equipment as required. During field assignments, works outdoors or inside, subject to a variety of weather conditions, occasionally cramped quarters, etc.
