Basic Requirement for Engineering Technician (Civil) GS-12 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service that includes: supporting the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, or rehabilitation of civil works infrastructure, such as dams, navigation facilities, flood risk management facilities, or related systems; reviewing or preparing scopes of work, plans, specifications, technical submittals, cost estimates, or contract documentation for maintenance, repair, or construction work; performing or supporting facility inspections, condition assessments, quality-assurance activities, or analysis of infrastructure deficiencies; and coordinating with engineers, project managers, construction personnel, and operations staff to ensure projects are safe, operable, maintainable, and ready for transition to service. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
