Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Deck Equipment Operator (Leader) without more than normal supervision. Operate a floating crane, use and maintenance of hydraulic power units and marine construction. I am skilled in basic metal welding and watercraft maintenance and repair. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS: (ALL MUST BE INCLUDED WITH YOUR APPLICATION PACKET TO BE CONSIDERED). - Must possess an Able Bodied Seaman's certificate issued by the U.S. Coast Guard. - Must hold and maintain a Crane Operators License for a 140-ton crane. - Must possess and maintain Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) from the US Coast Guard. - Must possess and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC). PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Incumbent must have color and depth perception and be able to see in low visibility conditions in order to navigate a vessel. Incumbent is required to exert moderate to heavy physical effort in order to accomplish loading and unloading of stores and other items such as handling construction tools and debris removal equipment. Physical exam required. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside, subjecting employee to abnormal temperatures. Hazards encountered are those received from moving machinery, breaking cables, bruises, cuts, burns, falls on slippery or tilting decks; going up and down stairs and ladders, strains in lifting, pulling and pushing, eye injuries from chipping paint and rust, is exposed to dust, fumes, heat and possible drowning by falling overboard or other accidents.
