Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-12 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience with formulation, justification and execution of the organization operating budget; 2) Knowledge and skill in the application of related laws, regulations, policies, methods and techniques of budgeting; AND 3) Ability to operate and maintain financial automation systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing administrative and analytical duties related to formulating, justifying, executing, and reviewing budget for an Organization; 2) Developing plans and objectives in the development/establishment of overall criteria for financing agency-wide program accounts; 3) Revising and interpreting standard operating procedures and guidance for budget formulation and administration; AND 4) Applying problem solving techniques to resolve complex resource management funding problems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Arithmetic/Mathematical Reasoning Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11) to qualify for a GS-12.
