Job Summary

Serves as Inventory Management Specialist in the Logistics section of Resource Management providing support of Member Services to include GSA Fleet Management as well as Inventory Management.

Job Description

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/30/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Resolves problems in flow of stock to support new or unique equipment. Maintains and arranges storage areas in accordance with warehouse plans, safety procedures and the automated equipment and warehouse material movement vehicles. Provides the customer with consistent information according to established policies and procedures. Interrogates databases to obtain adequate and pertinent data to base decisions on item descriptions and end item applications. Identifies and resolves delinquency in availability of key items. OR GS-09 Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related? Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR GS-09 Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the Inventory Management Specialist position, which may be substituted to meet the experience requirements for the GS-09 position? Note: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of Specialized Experience at or comparable to the required grade level. For GS-11 Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade of GS-09 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience include: Manages inventory for specialized or technical equipment. Maintains appropriate receipt records and supporting documentation. Prepares recommendations for procurement of equipment and material. Resolves fluctuations in rates of usage, availability from established suppliers, changes in provisioning requirements or other similar factors for a complete category of technical equipment and expendable supplies. OR GS-11 Substitution of Education for Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess a PhD. or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related? Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR GS-11 Combination of Education and Experience (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Do you possess combinations of successfully completed graduate education and specialized experience directly related to the work of the Inventory Management Specialist position, which may be used to meet the experience requirements for the GS-11 position? Note: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours per week, salary, and starting/ending dates of employment (month and year format) to establish you have one (1) full year of Specialized Experience at or comparable to the required grade level. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS 7) in Federal Service that includes performing the following duties: Tracking and accountability of non-expendable personal property issued to hand receipt and sub-hand receipt holders; Completion of Reports of Survey as assigned; Disposition of all non-expendable property as directed; Preparation and submittal of monthly, quarterly, semiannual, and end of year reports; Logistics training curriculum to key personnel which addresses non-expendable inventory tracking and accountability, VA and MS logistics policies, procedures, and best practices to manage non-expendable equipment under their jurisdiction; Delivering and assigning, via hand receipt, non-expendable items to remote Team Members; Inventorying accountable items on a routine schedule. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: Work is both sedentary and upright. Could stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time requiring bending and stooping. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to fifty (50) pounds. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment.
