The Transportation Assistant - Beneficiary Travel - acts as primary contact to Veterans for transportation needs. The Transportation Assistant in this position will be required to have an overall knowledge of the organization, its mission, goals and impact on patients, personnel, community, and the nation.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 09/29/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience GS-5: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant - Qualifying specialized experience includes using initiative and working independently within the framework established by the Supervisor in carrying out recurring assignments such as scheduling appointments and admissions, data tracking and data collection duties; Follows established procedures or instructions that specifically describe how the work is to be done and the kind of modifications or exceptions that can be made; Refers specific problems not covered by the Supervisor's instructions or standard operating procedures to Supervisor or higher-level employee for assistance and/or decision. EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION GS-5 (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. ~OR~ COMBINATION GS-5 (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level.
