Job Summary
The Health Technician (Monitor Technician) works as a member of the Critical Care Team of the Columbia Healthcare System. The incumbent provides cardiac monitoring under the supervision of the registered nurse. The incumbent exhibits skill and proficiency sufficient to effective EKG monitoring, documenting data in the electronic health record (EHR) and operating commonly used equipment.
Job Description
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/15/2026. Time-in-Grade Restriction - Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. These applicants must have held the GS-5 grade or higher for a year in order to meet this requirement for the GS-6 level of this vacancy. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Health Technician - Monitor Tech. Specialized experience includes assisting with providing continuous monitoring of cardiac rate, rhythm and patterns of conduction at a monitoring station. Measures prints and interprets rhythmed at designated intervals and PRN. Recognizes and reports changes in a patients rhythm that are outside the established parameters. Monitors patients vital signs and response to treatment throughout a procedure.
