Job Summary
The incumbent's primary role is to serve as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Associate Director, Patient Care Services (EA DADPCS) but responds to the needs and requests of the entire Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Service Chiefs, Department Managers, and other key program officials.
Job Description
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet specialize experience within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement, 06/29/2026. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-11 Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Health System Specialist - Executive Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have experience in assisting with providing health systems management services and high-level input into the most complex top management deliberations and decisions. Interprets constraints, identifying subtle and salient points, and extrapolates available data and information to provide management with adequate information from which to make long-range decisions. Independently formulates administrative policies and procedures based on studies, recommendations, and observations. Evaluates proposals submitted in response to contract requests as part of the technical evaluation team and advises management and contracting of recommendations. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month & year starting and year ending dates AND hours worked per week. OR, Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that is related to this position OR LL.M., if related. Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study; if that number cannot be obtained from the transcript, 18 semester hours will be considered as one full academic year of graduate study. Note: Transcripts required. OR, Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond the first 36 semester hours and specialized experience as described above in order to qualify. Note: Transcripts required. GS-12 Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Health System Specialist - Executive Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience is defined as progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field. This work may have been performed in an operating health care facility or a higher organizational echelon with advisory or directional authority over such facilities. Work must have involved a close working relationship with facility managers and analysis and/or coordination of administrative, clinical, or other service activities, and provided knowledge of the following: Missions, organizations, programs, and requirements of health care delivery systems; Regulations and standards of various regulatory and credentialing groups; and Government-wide, agency, and facility systems and requirements in various administrative areas such as budget, personnel, and procurement. At this level, applicants would have experience in providing health systems management services and high-level input into the most complex top management deliberations and decisions. interprets constraints, identifying subtle and salient points, and extrapolates available data and information to provide management with adequate information from which to make long-range decisions. Independently formulates administrative policies and procedures based on studies, recommendations, and observations. Evaluates proposals submitted in response to contract requests as part of the technical evaluation team and advises management and contracting of recommendations. Responsible for formulation, design, and implementation of operations programs within the medical center and is responsible for ongoing monitoring and supervision of these programs to ensure their efficient functioning.
