You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: In order to qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must possess the following: Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes experience where you were responsible for providing administrative support; collecting, compiling and tracking data and information; processing documents and reports; establishing, updating and maintaining office files and records; performing automation duties using such software applications such as word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, database and/or graphics; and providing information and customer service For more information on these qualification standards, please visit the United States Office of Personnel Management's website at https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/. In order to qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, you must possess the following: Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties the Program Support Assistant related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes, knowledge of the organization's function and interrelationships of organizational elements within the Medical Center and VA, performs duties in program support, work order control, timekeeping, and fiscal accounting, plan, coordinate, and accomplish a variety of program support tasks, such as recording and tracking specific program data and preparing and compiling data for special reports. The full performance level of this vacancy is GS 06. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS 05 - GS 06. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The majority of the work is sedentary but may include some physical effort, such as walking, standing, bending, sitting, and light lifting. There are no special physical demands. The incumbent must be capable of sitting for long periods of time and concentrating on details while performing the responsibilities of this position. Incumbent must be capable of maintaining his/her composure while dealing with the many facets of his/her job, such as numerous telephone interruptions, etc.
