LICENSE REQUIREMENT: A valid state-issued Class B (Class II) or higher Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required for this position. Possession of this license must be reflected in your resume to receive credit for your response. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Works in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. The work requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching. Works on top of, under, and in tight compartments of vehicles in cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lift and carry items, unassisted, weighing up to 50 pounds or more, and often exerting similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lift and move heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. Sometimes required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling, and climbing. Incumbents must have good vision, with or without glasses. Incumbent may work from ladders, scaffolding, and/or hydraulic platforms. This position requires working in uncontrolled environments, in inclement weather conditions, and in confined or uncomfortable spaces. Many work sites are hot, dirty, dusty, greasy, poorly lit, cramped and with unpleasant odors. Occasionally subject to possible dangerous working conditions including exposure to hazards normally encountered in the hospital trades and various types of infections. May be subject to electrical shock and/or electrical burns, cuts, bruises, and strains. Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary to accomplish assigned tasks in a safe manner. Typically work on parts and systems which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Subject to cuts, burns, chemical irritations, bruises, electrical shock, and injuries from falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as protective hearing devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications.
