Job Summary
This position serves as Supply Technician - Medical for the Medica Supply Distribution (MSD) areas of Logistics Service within the Lexington VA Health Care System in Lexington, KY. As a Supply Technician, you will provide wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non-sterile medical supplies, instrument sets and equipment.
Job Description
There is a Driver's License Requirement: Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license for this position. (Please do not submit a copy of your driver's license with your application package. You will be required to show your valid driver's license at the time of your interview.) PLUS To be eligible for this position, you must meet one of the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician-Medical position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Qualifying specialized experience includes: providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with aseptic principles; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answers customer questions regarding supplies and materials. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. -OR- EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Possess successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Education cannot be credited without documentation. -OR- COMBINATION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED): Possess an equivalent combination of specialized experience and post high school education as described above to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of this position. which meets the total specialized experience requirements for this grade level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
