Job Summary

The employee will serve as an Accounting Technician at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN. The primary purpose of this position is performing various functions involving the maintenance and reporting of financial accounting data.

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You may qualify at the GS-6 level if you fulfill the following qualifications: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing financial management functions utilizing knowledge of accounting and budget regulations, policies and procedures; assigning accurate transaction coding; processing disbursements, payments and collections; approving purchase card orders; maintaining accounting/financial ledgers; computing budget estimates; recording of collection to accounts receivable and using computer software programs (i.e., Microsoft office) and accounting/financial systems/databases.
