Job Summary
This position is assigned to the Assistant Chief of Staff of Mental Health Service Line. The position provides short term, rehabilitation services to Veterans, family members, and groups of Veterans in the Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs (DRRTP). The position Leads a team comprised of Rehabilitation Technicians (RT) in providing inpatient frontline clinical services to Veterans in the VA SORCC Domiciliary Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Programs 24/7 setting.
Job Description
IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-8 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. ~AND~ SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists. Additional specialized experience includes assisting professional personnel in operation of a rehabilitation treatment program for patients diagnosed with mental illnesses or co-occurring disorders; directing and supporting patients in the implementation of their treatment goals; resolving problems and providing guidance to others on rehabilitation services. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) ~OR~ SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You must have successfully completed one and one-half (1 1/2) years of graduate education or a master's degree in a field of study directly related to the work of this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one (1) year of full-time study. If that number cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours will be considered an academic year of graduate study. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
