Job Summary
The Program Support Assistant (PSA) position is located within Social Work & Community Based Service at the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center and is supervised by the Administrative Officer. The primary purpose and responsibilities of this position are to provide expert technical program support and administrative clerical duties to the various programs within the service and Main Social Work Office operations.
Job Description
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Program Support Assistant position to be filled. Specialized experience for this position includes screening in-person and telephone inquiries; utilizing computer software such as Microsoft Office to compose, draft and edit letters, memos, program brochures, and other types of written communications; performing a variety of administrative duties such as records and file management, tracking submissions of all statistical and administrative reports, creating reports and summaries, preparing agendas and meeting minutes. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, or carrying of light items (medial records, computing devices, manuals, papers, books, small parts). The work requires manual dexterity for computer data entry, office machine operation and filing. However, in general, this does not require unusual physical demands. The work does require emotional stability to resolve crisis situations.
