Job Summary
This Administrative Officer position is within the Neurology Clinical Care Center (Service), at the VA Maryland Health Care System/VAMHCS in Baltimore, MD. This position is directly accountable to the Neurology Chief for administrative operations in support of a complex clinical center, including budgetary activities, human resource management, space planning, equipment resourcing, and management of clinical services and contracts.
Job Description
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this Administrative Officer position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes working in a medical center/hospital environment performing the administrative activities of patient care services, including formulating and justifying operational budget and financial management and managing human resources; conducting studies and analyses of health care services to patients; analyzing performance improvement activities to identify problems and recommend corrective actions; and monitoring utilization of resources to ensure appropriate use of staffing, equipment, space, and treatment modalities; assisting leadership with strategic planning and policy development. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical demands of the position are quite limited, and the work is primarily sedentary, but the incumbent must be able to function under pressure.
