SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SCREEN-OUT) - A Selective Placement Factor (SPF) has been identified for this position. Selective Placement Factors (SPF) are a prerequisite to appointment and represent minimum requirements for the position. Applicants who do not meet the SPF are ineligible for further consideration. The SPF for this position is: Requires a current, valid state-issued Driver's License. NOTE: We cannot accept photographs, therefore; please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package. If an interview is requested, you will be required to provide a copy of your current, valid state-issued Driver's License. AND Screen-Out: Requires the ability to perform the duties of a Motor Vehicle Operator WG-5 without more than normal supervision. Related experience includes: operating a variety of passenger transport vehicles such as vans/busses and other types capable of carrying up to 7 passengers; performing preventive operational vehicle maintenance and maintaining cleanliness; and reading and interpreting maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safety route to travel. (Note: This experience must be clearly detailed in resume(s) to receive credit. We will not make assumptions regarding experience.) Physical Requirements: A Motor Vehicle Operator at this grade level exerts physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and foot controls. The Motor Vehicle Operator exerts physical effort in the frequent handling of objects up to 50 pounds. Must follow prescribed safety procedures using appropriate lifting methods and body mechanics for heavy lifting or moving heavy objects. Must be able to drive for a minimum of a four-hour period and stay mentally alert. Considerable physical effort may be required to perform frequent and prolong walking, standing, pushing, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling. The incumbent is also required to assist patients into and out of vehicles. Work Environment: Work is executed mostly outside operating vehicles in all kinds of traffic and weather on public roads and on the facility campus. The position is exposed to the possibility of traffic hazards. The position is exposed to dirt, fumes, grease and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, falls and broken bones when loading and unloading the vehicle. Must have ability to drive in rural areas, very congested Metropolitan traffic and/or construction zones. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements.
