Job Summary
These positions work in the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) will operate within the Service located at the Fredericksburg VA Medical Center/Health Care System (VAMC/HCS) with several Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
Job Description
To qualify you must meet the following requirements. Specialized Experience GS-5: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-04) in the Federal Service, that is directly related to the work of the position and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties as a Transportation Assistant - Beneficiary Travel Assistant. Qualifying specialized experience include: experience actively maintaining a web-based beneficiary travel reporting system; verifying travel requirements and travel calculations for claims; and assisting customers/patients with transportation reimbursement needs. ~OR~ EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. ~OR~ COMBINATION (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (beyond the second year) and specialized experience as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. Transcripts must be submitted at time of application. AND Physical Requirements: The duties and responsibilities of the position require some mobility between various clinic areas in separate building location sites, but generally the job is sedentary with some standing, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 20 pounds. The employee is required to work with computer equipment at least 75% of the time which impacts on hand and wrist motions.
