Job Summary

You will serve as a FUL - Carpenter in the National Park Service. This is a term position (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition at management's discretion.

To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: I have the ability to perform the full range of carpentry work. I have the ability to construct, alter, install, repair and modify structures and units such as framework, rafters, concrete forms, walls, doors, finished paneling, window frames, interior and exterior trims, beams, miscellaneous items, such as workbenches, bookcases, equipment cabinets, and computer consoles for structural soundness and appearance. I use shop mathematics and by reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, and building codes. I can perform preservation and restoration carpentry which includes estimating materials and improvising with materials and supplies, using knowledge of wood and wood substitute materials and construction techniques. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
