Job Summary

You will serve as a Maintenance Worker Trails with the National Park Service at Flagstaff Area National Monuments. The purpose of the position is to perform, at the sub-journeyman level, the maintenance, repair, and construction of Park trails. Duty station may be in an area away from park headquarters with general duties performed in a park. This position requires frequent overnight backcountry stays.

Requirements Continued Under applicable law, the employment of an individual serving a probationary or trial period automatically terminates when that period ends unless the agency affirmatively certifies, in writing, that the individual's employment should continue and that their appointment should be finalized. QUALIFICATIONS: To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF A MAINTENANCE WORKER, WG-4749-7 WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION (SCREEN OUT) - Perform the common work as a maintenance worker performing intermediate trail construction and maintenance projects such as water bars, rock steps, drainage structures and signs under normal supervision. This experience includes some knowledge of carpentry, masonry, and use of hand tools in a trail maintenance and construction capacity. Perform trails maintenance work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level maintenance worker to make sure they are properly completed. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
