Job Description

Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience OR Education for the series/grade to which you are applying. GS-07 Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-07, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Assisting with oil and gas well-operations (offshore or onshore) and/or associated facilities equipment (e.g., oil rig facility, coil tubing, hydraulic workover unit, or snubbing), or control systems related to hydraulic line drawings or blowout prevention systems. -OR- Education: Must have completed one (1) full year of graduate level education or a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement.* -OR- Combination of Experience and Education: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-07 level. *Additional information regarding Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.): http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualificationpolicies/#url=e4f GS-09: Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Assisting senior inspectors or other compliance personnel in preparing for, conducting, and reporting on inspections and investigations of oil and gas well-operations (offshore or onshore) and/or associated facilities equipment (e.g., oil rig facility, coil tubing, hydraulic workover unit, or snubbing), or control systems related to hydraulic line drawings or blowout prevention systems. -OR- Education: Must have completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work. -OR- Combination of Education/Experience: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-09 level. GS-11: Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-11, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: 1) Preparing for, conducting, and reporting on inspections and investigations of oil and gas well-operations (offshore or onshore) and/or associated facilities equipment (e.g., oil rig facility, coil tubing, hydraulic workover unit, or snubbing), or control systems related to hydraulic line drawings or blowout prevention systems; AND 2) Preparing written offshore oil and gas inspection reports. All requirements must be met. -OR- Education: Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a LL.M., if related. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work. -OR- Combination of Education/Experience: Have a combination of specialized experience and education that equals 100% of the requirement for the GS-11 level. NOTE: Applicants utilizing education to qualify at the respective grade level must provide transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) in order to verify that the educational requirement has been met.
