Job Summary
The Deputy Director of Operational Safety serves as a senior advisor to the Executive Director, Office of Operational Safety and provides senior leadership and direction for commercial space programs, goals and priorities. This includes the areas of launch vehicle and spaceport licensing, safety oversight, and the development, implementation, and integration of space technologies.
Job Description
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-K, FG/GS-15 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience providing technical leadership and guidance in developing new and innovative concepts and approaches within the aviation or aerospace industry; and Experience resolving technical and policy issues affecting the regulation of the commercial space transportation industry, taking into consideration policies, rules and regulations, and industry standards.
