Provide technical expertise in 5-axis Computer Aided Machine (CAM) programming for advanced composites materials.

Job Description

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Technical and Medical Support Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0802, Engineering Technical Series. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. NJ-4 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks), or will have one year within 120 days of closing of this announcement, of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11), level, pay band (NJ-3), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. OR EDUCATION: Applicant must have two full years of graduate education or a master's degree with a major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: An equivalent combination of successfully completed, qualifying education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Specialized experience directly related to the work of the position may be used to meet the requirements of this position. Education in excess of one full year of graduate education with a major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology may be used to qualify applicants for the NJ-3 level. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices pertaining to aircraft overhaul processes; and knowledge of process tools and concepts. 2. Knowledge of required security and safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians; and the development of interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships and working cooperatively as a member of a team. 4. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; and identifying, analyzing complex technical problems, and developing innovative solutions. 5. Ability to plan, organize, and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines; and to develop and/or conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well both orally and in writing. 6. Demonstrate ability to assure that the work of an assigned team is carried out by performing a range of coordinating and supportive duties and responsibilities. Skillful in utilizing a variety of coordinating, coaching, facilitating, consensus-building, and planning techniques. Experienced in work methods and knowledge, skills and abilities that act as alternatives to traditional supervision, enabling the team as a whole to deliver improved quality, quantity and timely services and/or work products to their customers. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
