The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Security Specialist providing expert technical advice and technical expertise in managing security programs to mitigate risks of compromise, unauthorized disclosure, or damage to classified information, Controlled Unclassified information, and Critical Program Information.
Job Description
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have, within 120 days of this announcement, at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for identifying and protecting information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage, or loss. Duties involve the management, supervision, or performance of work in developing, evaluating, maintaining, and/or operating systems, policies, devices, procedures, and methods used for safeguarding information, property, personnel, operations, and materials. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operations security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 2. Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices to assist managers in establishing and operating internal security programs. 3. Skill in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements and improve the security program for the installation and supported organizations. 4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately. 5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. 6. Knowledge of program protection, system security, technology assessment and control, foreign military sales, information, industrial, and personal security concepts, principles, and practices to plan and implement security programs in these areas. 7. Knowledge of security training concepts, programs, procedures, and practices relevant to area of Security Specialty. Expertise in developing, analyzing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements in support of leadership team(s). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
