Job Description
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree with at least one program accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or an applicable bachelor's degree with coursework that includes differential and integral calculus and additional courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics AND at 3 years of specialized experience. Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico is preferred. Mastery of two or more engineering disciplines, including advanced concepts, principles, and practices or engineering to be able to serve as an expert to resolve difficult facilities engineering problems and issues, and plan, design, monitor and evaluate complex facilities engineering programs and projects. Knowledge of related engineering and scientific disciplines. Thorough knowledge and mastery of the Marine Corps, Navy and other military service base structure capabilities and current utilization to assist in evaluating property needs and encroachment potential, both within the Marine Corps and across service lines. This includes the ability to analyze and develop compatible land use planning solutions to solve Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) and Marine Corps Hospitality Services (MCHS)operational requirements that must be satisfied through provision of supporting establishment base structure. Mastery of command relationships, compatibilities of missions, and strategic planning associated with Defense Planning Guidance and other policy documents from higher authority. Knowledge of the federal budget process to develop programming and budgeting strategies for MCCS and MCHS actions within cognizant program areas. Thorough knowledge of Marine Corps operating capabilities and the base structure, including air and water assets, required to support current and projected MCCS and MCHS mission requirements.
